What Are Martensitic Blow Bars?

Martensitic blow bars (also called martensitic impact hammers) are important parts installed on the rotor of horizontal shaft impact crushers.

When the crusher runs, the rotor spins fast. The blow bars hit rocks, construction waste, or medium-hard ores, and throw them against the impact plates. This breaks the material into smaller pieces during secondary or tertiary crushing.

Because blow bars touch the raw materials directly, they suffer from constant impact and rubbing. If they wear out, the crusher’s output drops, the final particle size becomes uneven, and the machine may need to stop often. Martensitic blow bars offer a middle choice – they are tougher than brittle high‑chrome bars, and more wear‑resistant than tough manganese bars. This gives you a good balance for many jobs.

Why Choose Martensitic Steel Blow Bars?

Martensitic steel is a balanced material. It has special advantages over manganese or high‑chrome steel:

  • Good balance of hardness and toughness
After heat treatment, its hardness stays stable at 44–57 HRC. It does not depend on impact to harden (like manganese steel). At the same time, it is much less likely to crack than high‑chrome blow bars, even when hitting unexpected steel or very large stones.

  • Longer life in abrasive conditions
Compared with manganese blow bars, martensitic steel resists wear better. For medium‑abrasive materials, it lasts longer, so you need to replace parts less often.

  • Works well in many situations
It is suitable for secondary crushing, construction waste recycling, and processing blasted limestone. It covers most medium‑load quarry and recycling projects.

  • Upgraded MC series with ceramics
Our R&D team has developed titanium‑carbide‑reinforced martensitic blow bars. Under the same working conditions, these MC series bars last 200%–300% longer than standard martensitic bars.

Best Situations to Use Martensitic Blow Bars

  • Recycling construction waste, concrete, and asphalt

  • Processing blasted limestone and medium‑hard aggregate

  • Secondary and tertiary crushing stages

  • Sites where small amounts of tramp iron (like rebar or steel blocks) may appear

  • Materials with medium feed size and moderate abrasiveness

About Saikuang Casting

Saikuang Casting is a professional foundry that makes wear‑resistant parts. We have solid experience in producing full‑series impact crusher parts, including standard martensitic blow bars and MC series ceramic‑composite bars.

Our Advantages

  • Many steel grades available – We offer 30Mn2CrSi, 30CrMnSiMo, 30CrNiMo, 40CrNiMo, 42Cr2Si2MnMo, 45Cr2Mo, 30Cr5Mo, 40Cr5Mo, 50Cr5Mo, 60Cr5Mo. We can also adjust the chemical composition for your specific conditions.

  • Strict heat treatment – Every batch is quenched and tempered precisely to form a stable martensitic structure, giving uniform hardness (44–57 HRC) and impact strength of 100–300 J/cm².

  • Exact 1:1 size match – Our mold library covers all mainstream crusher models. All bars have the same dimensions as original parts, so replacement is quick and easy.

  • Rigorous quality inspection – We test every batch for metallographic structure, hardness, and impact resistance, and we provide full reports for traceability.

  • Flexible customization – We accept orders based on your crusher model, OEM number, drawings, or physical samples.
