What Is Crusher Roller?
The crusher roller (roll) is the core working component of roll crushers. It crushes materials – such as ores, coal gangue, shale, cement clinker, and other medium‑hard to brittle materials – through compression action between two counter‑rotating rolls. The roll directly withstands impact and abrasion; therefore, its material and manufacturing quality determine the crusher’s efficiency and service life.
Our company offers a full range of rollers – including smooth rolls, toothed rolls, and “wolf‑tooth” rolls – compatible with double‑roll crushers, four‑roll crushers, and hydraulic roll crushers. They are widely used in mining, metallurgy, building materials, power generation, and chemical industries.
Main Material Options for Roll Crusher Roller
We offer a range of high‑performance materials to match your specific crushing conditions. Each grade is engineered to deliver the optimal balance of wear resistance, impact toughness, and cost‑effectiveness.
Mn13Cr2 High‑Manganese Steel
Characteristics: Excellent toughness and outstanding work‑hardening capability under impact. After solution treatment at ≥1040 °C, the surface hardness increases progressively with service loads. Cost‑effective for general applications.
Best for: Limestone, coal, and medium‑abrasive materials. Ideal for quarrying and coal crushing where impact is moderate and wear is not extreme.
Mn18Cr2 High‑Manganese Steel
Characteristics: Our most popular grade, offering a well‑balanced combination of wear resistance and impact strength. Enhanced manganese and chromium content provide improved hardness without sacrificing ductility.
Best for: Mixed ores, construction waste, and medium‑hard rocks. Suitable for most double‑roll crusher duties, from secondary to tertiary crushing.
Mn22Cr2 High‑Manganese Steel
Characteristics: Higher manganese and chromium levels deliver greater surface hardness and superior resistance to impact fracture. This grade exhibits excellent anti‑break performance even under heavy shock loads.
Best for: Large feed sizes and heavy‑load primary crushing applications, such as run‑of‑mine ore and oversized demolition debris.
Titanium carbide (TiC) reinforced manganese steel
Characteristics: Hard TiC ceramic particles are embedded into high‑manganese steel matrix. It keeps the good toughness of manganese steel while greatly improving surface hardness and abrasive resistance. Service life is obviously longer than ordinary manganese steel. Resists chipping and surface material loss under continuous friction and impact.
Best for: Highly‑abrasive ores, river pebbles, quartz and hard aggregate. Perfect for heavy‑duty roll crushing where customers want longer service intervals and fewer part‑change stops.
Ceramic Martensitic
Characteristics: Combines the high toughness of heat‑treated martensitic steel base with ultra‑hard ceramic reinforcement on the wear surface. It retains excellent anti‑cracking performance of standard martensitic steel while greatly boosting surface hardness and abrasion resistance. This composite structure avoids the brittleness issue of high‑chrome ceramic parts and maintains stable mechanical performance under continuous impact and friction. Service life is 1.5–2 times longer than conventional monolithic martensitic wear parts.
Best for: Medium to highly abrasive materials with occasional impact loads. Ideal for construction waste recycling, medium‑hard aggregate, and sand making production lines. Perfect for users who want balanced toughness and extended wear life without the risk of breakage.
High‑Chromium Alloy Steel
Characteristics: The outer working layer (high‑chromium cast iron) reaches a hardness of HRC 58–62, providing exceptional abrasion resistance. The composite structure (hard outer layer + tough inner core) extends service life significantly – often 3–5 times longer than manganese steel alternatives.
Best for: Hard, sharp, and highly abrasive rocks, including granite, river pebble, quartzite, and other siliceous materials. Recommended for fine crushing stages where wear is the primary concern.
