What Are Manganese Blow Bars

Manganese blow bars (also called impact hammers) are key parts installed on the rotor of horizontal shaft impact crushers.

When the crusher runs, the rotor spins at high speed. The blow bars hit the incoming rocks, ores, or construction waste, and throw them against the impact plates inside the crusher. This breaks the materials into smaller pieces and shapes them.

Because blow bars directly touch the raw materials, they suffer from heavy impact and friction all the time. If blow bars are worn out, the crusher works less efficiently, produces uneven particle sizes, and may stop often. Good blow bars protect the rotor, keep production stable, and reduce daily maintenance costs.

Why Choose Manganese Steel for Blow Bars?

Manganese steel is the most reliable material for blow bars under heavy impact. It has special work-hardening properties that chrome alloy steel does not have:

• High impact toughness – It will not crack or break even when hitting large stones or unexpected metal pieces (like rebar or steel blocks). High-chrome blow bars are brittle and can shatter easily under such conditions.

• Self-hardening surface – Its initial hardness is about 300 HBW. But under continuous strong impact, the contact surface hardens automatically to 55–60 HRC. This greatly improves wear resistance during operation.

• Works in many conditions – It is ideal for primary crushing, large feed materials, and recycling sites where metal impurities are often mixed in.

• Upgraded version with TiC – We also offer blow bars with titanium carbide added. Under the same working conditions, their service life is 200%–300% longer than standard manganese blow bars.
